GM Is Set to Disclose a New Spare Parts Distribution Plant in Moscow in February 2015

US-based vehicle manufacturer General Motors (GM) is set to open a new spare parts distribution plant in Moscow in February 2015.

This move of the company is a part of its plan to strengthen its presence in Soviet Union. For this plant, GM has entered into 14-year lease agreement with Radius Group.

GM's CIS division will consolidate its various Moscow spare parts centers into a new 40,000m2 plant at the 144-hectare South Gate Industrial Park, which is owned by a real estate firm Radius Group.

Besides this, the automaker also has an option to expand the plant by an additional 25%.

Radius Group managing director Christopher Van Riet was quoted by themoscowtimes.com as saying: "For our team it's a crowning achievement."

Radius is a provider of warehouse and manufacturing real estate solutions with properties in Moscow, Kiev and Kazan.

Earlier, GM has announced that it is recalling 2014 model year vehicles in the US, over the improperly fitted brake parts.

The recall will affect 2014 Chevrolet Suburban vehicles built from 9 - 22 July 2013, 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe produced during 16-23 July 2013, 2014 GMC Yukon manufactured from 13 to 18 July 2013 and the 2014 GMC Yukon XL built on 22 July 2013.
