US based Key Technology has launched a new digital sorter line to improve quality of potato strips and specialty potato products by maximizing removal of foreign material and defects.
Branded as VERYX, the digital sorter and intelligent ejection system from Key, features mechanical architecture, all-sided surface inspection, a multi-sensor dubbed Pixel Fusion, high resolution cameras and laser sensors.
The new sorters in the VERYX line are claimed to remove almost all the false rejects resulting in maximum yield. They are said to be ideal for wet and frozen French fries as well as specialty potato products according to the company.
Key advanced inspection systems product manager Marco Azzaretti said: “Our VERYX family of sorters introduces many state-of-the-art features and advanced functionality. After two years of extensive field testing, covering both wet and frozen sorting at potato processing plants in North America and Europe, we’ve proven that VERYX delivers new standards of performance.”
VERYX sorters provide in-air inspection besides giving the ability to inspect all sides of the product for enhanced defect detection and removal.
Key’s multi-sensor Pixel Fusion delivers highest level of contrast and distinctively helps in separating good product from defects and foreign material before packaging.
VERYX is said to sort even the difficult-to-find defects and foreign material like glass, rubber, metal, foam, paperboard and plastics of various colors.
The sorter can be configured in four different widths and is claimed to cater to the needs of a broad range of capacity requirements.
Recently, the maker of the VERYX sorters, the Washington State based Key Technology opened a new innovations and solutions hub in Belgium.
