World-renowned clothing brands such as Zara, United Colors of Benetton, Gruppo Marzoto, Lanerossi, Marchi e Fildi S.P.A, Fratelli Piacenza S.P.A and H&M would be using Kazakhstan wool for manufacturing their apparel products, as a result of a contract signed between Italian firm VICOTEX and Kazakh Joint Stock Company—Kazagroprodukt, a subsidiary of Kazagro National Holding.
According to a statement issued by Kazagro, as per the contract Kazagroprodukt would be shipping 72 tons of wool tops (a semi-processed product from raw wool) to the Italian firm, of which 18 tons of wool tops have already been shipped, whereas the rest 54 tons would be delivered within the next month.
The contract worth US$ 598,000 was signed between the Italian firm and Kazakh firm in February, 2014, between representatives of VICOTEX and Kazagroprodukt.
According to Kazagro, the agreement was signed as the wool tops production in the country was carried out under the control of Italian experts that allowed the improvement of the quality of wool, as a result of which the end product would be in compliance to international standards.
The equipments used to manufacture the wool tops are brought from Europe with the support of another subsidiary of Kazagro—Agrarian Credit Corporation.
According to Kazagro, the quality of the wool tops and the efficient delivery carried out by Kazagroprodukt has resulted into additional contracts signed between the firms for the supply of 140 to 250 tons of wool tops during the year.
Kazagroprodukt is a subsidiary of Kazagro which engages in ensuring food security, and development of export potential of livestock produce, through technological and financial support.
