Mitsubishi Motors Philippines (MMPC) will recall over 15,000 vehicles over the problems related to the welding and reclining seats.
The recall affects 11,403 units of Montero Sport vehicles as well as 4,050 units of Strada including the two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive variants of both the models sold from 2011 to 2012.
The welding of the front suspension lower arm is suspected to break while vehicle is in use due to the insufficient welding bead dimension.
For the four-wheel drive models the front propeller shaft has an insufficient width of the welding bead between the tube and stub that may lead to fracture while vehicle is in use.
The other cause of the recall is the power assisted reclining seat switch in the Montero GLS SE and GT-V models that may get stuck during usage and may result in overheating of the power seat motor.
MMPC plans to check the vehicles under the recall and replace the affected parts if necessary.
The company claims that it is unaware of any reported failures or incidents across the country related to the issues.
