Heavy-duty transit bus manufacturer New Flyer has secured a contract from Arizona transit agency to supply busses to the City of Phoenix Public Transit Division in US.
As per the contract, the bus manufacturer will produce and assemble 120 units of the 40ft low floor compressed natural gas (CNG) heavy-duty buses at its St. Cloud manufacturing facility in Minnesota.
New Flyer president and CEO Paul Soubry said, "Building lasting relationships are so important to us, and we are proud of the opportunity to continue to build for the City of Phoenix."
Production of the new buses, which will replace the existing liquid natural gas buses in service, are expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2013 and scheduled to be delivered in 2014.
All the buses will feature an electric fan cooling system and are claimed to be the first CNG buses for the City of Phoenix.
Since 1994, New Flyer had manufactured about 267 units of the low-floor buses for the City of Phoenix.
