Snacks and confectionery company Mondelez International is introducing its first savoury snack brand in 10 years – Good Thins.
The brand includes real ingredients such as wheat, rice and potato along with flavours such as garlic, spinach and sweet potato, all of which are baked into thin, crispy pieces without any artificial flavours, colour, cholesterol and partially hydrogenated oils or high fructose corn syrup.
Good Thins will be launched in eight variants which include The Potato Ones!, which claim to contain 60% less fat than the regular fried potato chip, Original, Spinach & Garlic, Sweet Potato.
The Chickpea One! variant is made with real chickpeas and comes in another flavour of Garlic & Herb.
The Rice Ones! (Gluten-free) comes in five flavours which include Veggie Blend, Simply Salt, Poppy & Sesame Seed, Sea Salt & Pepper.
Mondelez International Good Thins marketing director Danielle Brown said: "At Mondelez International, what's important to consumers is important to us.
"We're regularly taking a consumer pulse on ingredient and flavor preferences, and we're excited to launch a brand that delivers on a broad range of these interests. Best of all, it's a snack that you can feel good about."
The marketing department intends to collaborate with agency partners to introduce the brand with three TV launch spots, digital advertising, in-store sampling, shopper marketing programs and consumer activations in select cities.
Good Thins will be launched across the US with a suggested retail price of $3.69 per box.
The company said to have developed the brand in consultation with consumers. According to Danielle Brown, consumers responded by saying that they did not want artificial colors and flavors, cholesterol or high-fructose corn syrup in their snacks. They sought good taste and texture which are most often associated with the undesirable ingredients, reported The New York Times.
