BMW Introduced BMW I DC Fast Charger at Plug-in 2014 Conference Held in San Jose

German car maker BMW, along with Bosch Automotive Service Solutions, has introduced BMW i DC Fast Charger at Plug-In 2014 conference held in San Jose, California this week.

The i DC Fast Charger can charge up to 80% of BMW i3 all electric vehicles battery in 30 minutes. It measures 31"H x 19"W x 12"D and weighs 100 pounds.

The company is planning to sell the charger to BMW dealers for $6,548.

BMW of North America EV infrastructure manager Robert Healey said: "BMW is offering the BMW i DC Fast Charger at an appealing price point, and more manageable size, to make the convenience of DC fast charging more accessible for BMW i3 owners."

BMW in coloration with NRG eVgo, a subsidiary of NRG Energy, is also introducing a program that will allow BMW i3 drivers to charge the vehicle for 30 minutes, free of cost at eVgo Freedom Station sites enrolled under the DC Combo Fast Charging program in California.

NRG eVgo president Arun Banskota said: "By identifying strategic partnerships and working with those partners to develop innovative solutions to EV charging needs, we can create an interconnected, reliable network of conveniently placed DC fast charging locations that gives EV drivers the confidence to drive farther than ever before."
