Sanovas, a US-based life science technology company, has introduced MicroCam, its OEM "Plug & Play" micro imaging platform for endoscopic device applications.
The integrated imaging platform is expected to displace large, cumbersome and expensive cart based systems with leaner, more efficient and cost effective designs.
MicroCam technology consists of patented software, electronics, sensors and optics, which offer autonomous imaging capability to most any surgical instrument.
The company is planning to offer its imaging technology for integration with medical device makers' existing portfolios to improve their products clinical capabilities enhance their product offerings and increase their competitive advantage.
Sanovas CEO Larry Gerrans said that as minimally invasive surgical procedures become the standard of care, globally, the MicroCam will vastly improve the expansion and operative capabilities of the science.
"Doctors will no longer have to struggle using one imaging source for the duration of their procedure," Gerrans added.
"We can now put "eyeballs" on most any instrument and give the Doctor a wide variety of images and viewing angles."
