Milk Specialties Global has announced that it has acquired the Saputo facility in Monroe, Green County, Wisconsin, US.
Founded in 1949, Milk Specialties has experienced exceptional growth in human and animal nutrition.
The Company’s Human Nutrition Business Unit is a leading manufacturer of high quality whey and milk protein ingredients used primarily in the sports nutrition and functional food end-markets.
The Company’s Animal Nutrition Business Unit is a leading provider of science-based products to the dairy industry, including its flagship brand and top-selling product, Energy Booster, a nutrient for improving dairy cow productivity.
This acquisition will allow Milk Specialties to grow their whey protein ingredients through the Company’s advanced Ultrafiltration process, while enhancing the Company’s commitment to their strategic supply partners. The Monroe facility is a whey processing plant located in a favorable location for cheese producers.
“This investment will support our ongoing commitment to our valued whey suppliers to provide a consistent market for whey protein,” stated Tom Benson, Senior Vice President of Strategic Sourcing & Risk Management of Milk Specialties. “Investing in an area that is soaked with a proud cheese making tradition will allow both our cheesemakers and Milk Specialties to continue to grow.”
Currently, Milk Specialties has nine certified manufacturing facilities spread across the Midwest and California. The Monroe facility and its 14 employees will join the industry-leading manufacturer as the tenth facility location, further supporting their next level of growth.
