Southern Company subsidiary Georgia Power has launched a new fleet of plug-in electric hybrid Chevy Volts.
The company has added 32 new electric vehicles (EVs) to its fleet, demonstrating flexibility of driving electric.
Georgia Power chairman, president and CEO Paul Bowers said: "Through constructive regulation, and partnerships with organizations like the EV Club of the South, we are growing the EV market in Georgia and helping our customers reap the overwhelming benefits of driving electric."
The company's energy efficiency experts primarily use the EVs in order to carry out energy audits at homes and businesses, a service provided to help customers save money and energy.
A new electric transportation initiative was started by Georgia Power in 2014 that was aimed to advance Georgia as an exceptionally EV-friendly state through its Get Current. Drive Electric. program.
Currently, the program comprises an ongoing public education campaign, EV charger rebates for business and residential customers and special rates and charging options for EV customers.
Georgia Power is focused on developing products and service to meet customers' needs, including an increasing interest in EVs and electric transportation options.
