Invendo Medical, a developer of disposable endoscopy products, has installed its single-use colonoscope at two GI endoscopy centers including NYU Langone Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center.
Using a computer-assisted (robotic) gentle drive technology, invendoscope SC20 features a working channel and performs all endoscopic functions by using a handheld device.
The system, which has entered the US market following a special 510(k) clearance by the FDA, also reduces forces on the colon wall, claims the company.
Invendo Medical global markets EVP John Cifarelli said, "We are enthusiastic about the potential of our colonoscopy system and are confident that many US patients will appreciate the benefits of the invendo system when they have to decide which screening method would suit them best."
