Hyundai Motor Recalled 6,071 Units of The 2012 Veloster Vehicles

South Korean carmaker Hyundai Motor has recalled 6,071 units of the 2012 Veloster vehicles in the US, over an issue with shattering sunroofs.

The recall affects the Veloster models that were manufactured from 04 July 2011 to 31 October 2011, which includes 5,835 vehicles in the US and 236 units in Puerto Rico, according to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The affected vehicles witnessed sudden explosion of the sunroof, which would lead to breaking of the panoramic glass panel as well as lead to injury or a vehicle crash.

In December 2012 the automaker had recalled 13,500 vehicles that were manufactured between 01 November 2011 and 17 April 2012 over the sunroof assembly defect.

Beginning in March 2013, the dealers would check and if required replace the sunroofs in the affected vehicles as a part of the recall.
