Amazon has officially launched the Redshift cloud data warehousing services to save the enterprise storage market. This service is integrated directly into Amazon's other services, such as S3 and DynamoDB, the service will be provided in the eastern region of the United States firstly and will be extended to other areas in the coming months.
The Amazon Redshift service provides two types of nodes. The first is a High Storage Extra Large,, with configuration of 15GB memory and 2TB local additional compression storage, distributed in three hard disk and consists of two Intel Xeon E5 processor core processing. This node provides 4.4 Elastic Compute Unit, the medium network performance and hard disk input / output functions.
The competitive goals of the Redshift service are cloud companies such as IBM and Oracle products. The Amazon said the price of the service is just a small part of the competitors in the charge of the internal application solutions, but the performance is much higher.
