American meat producer Tyson Foods has acquired the assets of Bosco's Pizza, in a move to expand its domestic prepared foods business.
Bosco's Pizza, which is known for The Original Bosco Stick, produces a variety of stuffed bread sticks and frozen pizzas to cater to the food service and retail customers in the Midwest and at some retailers across the nation.
With this transaction, Bosco's Pizza will become a unit of Tyson Foods' Prepared Foods division, while continuing its operations under the Bosco's Pizza Co. name.
Commenting on the acquisition, Tyson Foods Prepared Foods, Customer and Consumer Solutions president Donnie King said that Bosco's will be a good addition to the company's diversified portfolio of quality food offerings.
Bosco's Pizza Sales and Marketing vice president Craig Mulhinch said, "This deal will allow us to accelerate our growth while we continue to focus on the fundamentals of making excellent artisan bread products. We're excited about joining the Tyson team."
Tyson Foods produces, distributes, and markets chicken, beef, pork, prepared foods, and related allied products worldwide. It operates in four segments: Chicken, Beef, Pork, and Prepared Foods.
