Apex Operates 11 Machines and Has Annual Sales of About $4m

Blow molder Apex Plastics is investing in new machinery and equipment, in a bid to increase its output and productivity.

The company recently spent about $1m for purchasing a Bekum H-155 dual-station blow molding machine, along with downstream equipment -- a servo takeaway system from MTM Systems, a deflash unit, trimmer, leak detector, and material handling equipment.

Apex Plastics division president Damon Neff told Plastic News that the investment would step up capacity and efficiency and open up some new opportunities for the company.

Apex, a division of PCE, a private holding company based in Lincoln, Nebraska, operates 11 machines and has annual sales of about $4m.

The company specializes in short-to-medium runs of custom or proprietary bottles and containers, including those in specialty shapes and colors. It caters to customers in various markets, primarily home and beauty, automotive, agriculture and animal health products.
