Contract bottling company Cobevco has announced that the company will offer new 'bag-in-box' as part of its beverage filling capabilities from the end of May 2013.
Following a 2m investment made by the company in its Cheshire plant, the move is the latest development in its existing broad range of services, which consist of glass bottle filling and packing, on-site bonded storage and consolidated product deliveries.
The company will install a new Rapak filling machine, which will allow it to fill a minimum of 200,000l of wine each week in bag-in-box format.
Cobevco managing director Adrian Curry said more and more producers are deciding to offer products in bag-in-box format, owing to consumers' continuous demand for a wider selection of wine products.
"By adding this capability to our services, we can give producers the variety of filling solutions that they need to satisfy retailers and consumers in the UK," Curry said.
The new capability will also open up growth opportunities further in markets such as Scandinavia.
