Audi will showcase its technology concept car TT Clubsport Turbo at Reifnitz, Austria during the Worthersee Tour slated between May 13 and 16.
The vehicle, which draws its inspiration from Audi 90 IMSA GTO of the late 1980s, is powered by electric biturbo. The power-boosted 2.5 TFSI engine, segregated into five cylinders, generates 441kW (600horsepower) and 650Nm of torque between 3,000 and 7,000rpm for a displacement of 2,480cc.
Audi board member for technical development Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg said: "The electric biturbo signifies a new dimension in driving enjoyment; it boosts sprinting ability and torque and enables high peak power."
While its lightweight design vouches for its unladen weight of 1,396kg, the TT Clubsport Turbo is capable of displaying acceleration from zero to 100km/h in 3.6 seconds with 310km/h as its top speed.
Moreover, its electrically powered compressor has the ability to reach maximum rpm and goes on boosting charge pressure even when the exhaust gas is left with little drive energy.
The car also has a dedicated 48 volt electrical sub-system that provides electrical energy to the turbocharger. There is also a compact lithium-ion battery in the luggage compartment that acts as a reservoir of energy, which is generated by recuperation while coasting.
The manually adjustable rear wing, regarded as an advanced technology for its Audi Sport TT Cup, has got 20cm wider with a new design for side flaps.
The concept car's interiors imbibe sporty materials such as CFRP and black Alcantara, with the race seats upholstered in coral orange Alcantara and feature contrasting stitching and piping.
Safety features include a protective "cage" of ultra-high-strength titanium tubes at the rear and lightweight race car bucket seats with four-point harnesses. The driver has complete control over all key driving parameters through the new digital Audi virtual cockpit that features four satellite buttons on the multifunction steering wheel.
