Burley Design LLC, manufacturer of child bicycle trailers, has shaken up its executive suite, promoting Frank Roome to president and Kathy Herrmann to chief operating officer. Owner Mike Coughlin remains CEO.
Roome, previously vice president of sales and marketing, will initially focus on strategic planning, sales, new product development, customer service and marketing.
Herrmann joined Burley in 2009 and has worked in several areas including logistics, sales, intellectual property and forecasting. In her new role she will focus on internal operations—including finance, sourcing and logistics—as well as human resources and technology.
The executive moves come on the heels of strong growth at Burley, with sales up 66 percent over the past two years.
Coughlin predicts the company will maintain strong sales momentum this year. “We are rolling out our new 2013 child trailers and recently introduced MyKick balance bikes,” he said. “Our development engineers are working on additional products for 2013 that will take the company into new sales channels, and our initial conversations with customers have been positive. We plan to announce these products in mid-2013.”
He added: “With these promotions, I’m confident that we have the infrastructure to support continued aggressive growth, as well as launch new products. We have a seasoned team with the drive to excel.”
