Tata Steel Increased by 9.5 Percent to 2.06 Million Mt in April-December

Indian steelmaker Tata Steel has announced its sales results for the third quarter and the first nine months ended December 31 of the financial year 2013-14. The total domestic sales of Tata Steel in the third quarter increased by 9.5 percent to 2.06 million mt, compared to the same quarter of the previous financial year. During the first nine months of the current financial year, the company registered a 17.4 percent year-on-year growth in domestic sales, reaching 6.1 million mt.

Tata Steel's crude steel output for the third quarter amounted to 2.2 million mt, increasing by 3.8 percent year on year. The company's liquid pig iron output in the quarter in question was 2.3 million mt, up 1.6 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous financial year.

In the first nine months, Tata Steel produced 6.7 million mt of crude steel, up 14.5 percent year on year, while the company's liquid pig iron output amounted to 7.24 million mt, rising by 13.1 percent year on year.

During the third quarter, Tata Steel produced 1.48 million mt of flat steel products, constituting its best-ever quarterly flat steel output. Additionally, the company's pellet plant reached its rated capacity in the third quarter and has produced more than 3.1 million mt of pellet in the first nine months.
