Forever Fresh has unveiled new shelf life extending packaging for Chilean cherries, as part of its efforts to provide quality cherries for the customers.
The company repacked cherries by using advanced cherry repacking lines on the East and West coasts.
Forever Fresh is providing the cherries in traditional standup pouches, in addition to new controlled atmosphere 1-pound top seal clamshells.
The growers of Forever Fresh are expecting that Chile will produce around 23 million 5kg cases of cherries in this season.
Forever Fresh general manager Evan Myers said: “We are excited about our new top sealed clamshells.
“Extensive testing proves that this new packaging provides a tremendous opportunity to improve quality by extending shelf life and reducing shrink at retail.”
In this season, Forever Fresh intends to market around 400,000 cases of Red and Rainier cherries in North America, as the production increased by 35% compared against last season.
The firm is also planning to offer Argentinean cherries from mid-February to the customers.
Myers further added: “The Peruvian grape production is currently shifting with grape production growing, but we are seeing the ratio of red globes versus seedless grapes shrinking with more hectares (9,289) of seedless varieties planted, versus 7,850 hectares of Red Globes.”
