TCL reports 60.6%on-year increase with LCD TV sales in 1H12 Julian Ho,Taipei;Alex Wolfgram,DIGITIMES [Monday 9 July 2012]China-based TV maker TCL has reported a 60.6%increase in LCD TV sales during the first half of this year compared with the same time period last year due to improved market strategies and product structure along with more value-added products,according to the company.
TCL reported 840,000 LCD TVs sold in June,a 10.8%on-year increase along with a 30%increase in sales with the TVs in China's market.In addition,LED TV sales topped 4.31 million during the first half of this year,a 212.4%on-year increase,with over 600,000 units being sold in June.
Connected TVs meanwhile reached 1.3 million in sales during the first half of this year,a 234.7%year-on increase,while 3D sets reached 590,000.
China at present is currently the world's largest LCD TV market.Energy-saving subsidies issued by Chinas government,which include funding for LCD TVs,are likely to boost TV sales this year throughout the country.
TCL said it also saw a 108.4%growth in LCD TV sales abroad and is looking forward to bumping up that number amongst increased advertising and promotion during this year's Summer Olympics.
