The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted patent no. 8,407,065 to PolyRemedy's HealSmart Personalized Woundcare system.
The system is designed for use by clinicians to document care through easy-to-use, web- and phone-based assessment tools, order personalized antimicrobial wound dressings and provide critical visibility into wound care data.
The patent, entitled 'Wound Care Treatment Service Using Automatic Wound Dressing Fabricator', covers claims relating to the device's functionality including standardized assessment, personalized treatment, custom dressing production and delivery as well as reports and alerts.
PolyRemedy president and COO Cameron McKennitt said the treatment consistency and visibility, combined with the high performance of HealSmart's personalized antimicrobial dressings, continue to receive positive feedback from patients and clinicians.
"Receiving this patent further strengthens our ability to serve patients by enabling further investment in our direct business model, materials science platform, and technology infrastructure," McKennitt added.
