Japanese carmaker Toyota has launched the redesigned 2013 RAV4 Crossover sport utility vehicle(SUV),which will be offered in three variants including LE,XLE and Limited.
The new SUV is powered by Toyota's 2.5L 2494cc four-cylinder engine that produces an output of 176hp at 6000 rpm and 172lbft of torque at 4,100rpm,while it is mated to a six-speed transmission.
Interactive management system handles the SUV's new dynamic torque control AWD,vehicle stability control(VSC)and electric power steering(EPS)systems to improve performance,handling and safety.
Toyota Division group vice president and general manager Bill Fay said:"For 2013,RAV4 is carefully tailored to the needs of the compact SUV market it created,with a fuel-efficient four-cylinder engine,a new six-speed automatic transmission,two-row seating for five and exceptional in-cabin technologies."
The three operating modes including auto mode,sport mode and lock mode are aimed at enhancing the agility and driving performance of the new RAV4.
RAV4's new dynamic torque control AWD system will automatically transform from front-wheel drive(FWD)to all wheel drive(AWD)when speeding up or during detection of wheel slippage by sensors.
Safety features of the new SUV include eight standard airbags,traction control(TRAC),electronic brake-force distribution(EBD),improved vehicle stability control(VSC),brake assist(BA),an anti-lock braking system(ABS),and smart stop technology(SST).
Additionally,the vehicle comes with multi-information display(MID),electronic tire pressure monitoring system(TPMS),blind spot monitor system incorporating rear cross traffic alert(RCTA)and daytime running lights(DRL).
According to Japanese carmaker,the new RAV4 Crossover SUV is scheduled to go on sale in January 2013.
