Six Partners Agreed to Establish Hydrogen Refuelling Network in Germany

Six partners, including Air Liquide, Daimler, Linde, OMV, Shell and Total, of the H2 Mobility initiative have signed an agreement to establish hydrogen refuelling network for fuel cell powered electric vehicles across Germany.

The alliance plans to expand the 15 filling stations network to nearly 400 H2 filling stations by 2023. The H2 Mobility initiative will need around EUR350m investment.

As a part of this initiative, 100 hydrogen stations will be deployed in the country in the next four years.

Expansion of the national filling station network will be initiated following a joint venture, which is subject to necessary regulatory approvals.

Besides the filling station network, the deal includes principles for the procurement and distribution of hydrogen and a request for support to the German Federal Government.

The aim of this project is to supply H2 to densely populated areas; main traffic arteries and rural areas. At least every 90km will feature an H2 station in densely populated areas.

With this project, drivers of fuel cell powered vehicles in metropolitan areas will have at least 10 hydrogen refuelling stations available each from 2023.
