French car maker PSA Peugeot-Citroen has signed a deal with the Agromash Holding for the assembly and distribution of Peugeot passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) in Kazakhstan.
Under the agreement, Agromash will assemble the Peugeot's 301, 3008, 508 and Partner model passenger cars that will begin in June 2013 with an annual production capacity of 4,000 units and is expected to increase the sales may to over 10,000 units per year.
PSA Peugeot Citroen Russia, Ukraine and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) managing director Bernd Schantz said that the project in Kazakhstan is an important milestone for the company's business development in the region of Commonwealth of Independent States, along with Asia and Latin America.
"It will contribute to our growing and diversified presence in the region, with a larger manufacturing base dedicated to our local subsidiaries-driven operations in Russia and Ukraine and to our importers-based sales in Azerbaijan, Belarus and Moldova," Schantz said.
In addition, the company will offer the Peugeot 408 manufactured at its Russian plant in Kaluga to the Kazakh market, with locally assembled models.
