Increasing Presence in California to Accommodate Growing R&D Unit

Japan-headquartered automotive supplier DENSO is expanding its Silicon Valley office in California, US to accommodate additional work-staff, it plans to hire across its advanced research and development unit.

The company is keen to bulk up its R&D team by about three-fold increase to 20 people, over the next three years, besides working in technologies such as cyber security, big data and autonomous driving.

DENSO R&D head and executive vice president Masahiko Miyaki said the company employs nearly 700 people across its North American business unit, developing technologies related to environment and safety mainly in the technical center located in Southfield, Michigan.

"The expansion of Silicon Valley office will strengthen our research and development ability, not only North America but worldwide," added Miyaki.

In addition to seeking investment in innovative technologies, DENSO has also selected a dedicated team in the Silicon Valley office to pursue investments into entrepreneurs and startup companies.
