Car rental company Hertz has secured a contract from the airlines company Lufthansa to supply over 1,000 vehicles under the CarPool system for three years.
The car rental company will maintain and operate the vehicles, which are fitted with the Hertz-On Demand car sharing technology, as the CarPool booking system.
Under the agreement, Hertz will provide cars including Fiat 500, Ford Fiesta, station wagons and SUV along with seven-seaters either short- or long-term rental to the Lufthansa employees and the airline's partner firms at the airports in Frankfurt, Munich and Hamburg.
Hertz chairman and CEO Mark Frissora said, "Our innovative Hertz On Demand car share concept proved compelling to Lufthansa because it provides the ideal solution for the individual mobility needs of airline staff."
Features of the CarPool system include 24/7 service during the year, any time pick up and return, reservations through the internet, mobile webpage, or iPhone app and a Hertz RFID-enabled token to unlock the vehicles.
