Indian vehicle manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has unveiled Vitara Brezza, a new offering in the SUV segment, at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016.
The new compact urban SUV features a 1.3L diesel direct injection system (DDiS) engine and a five-speed manual transmission, which produces 66kW of power along with 200Nm of torque.
The company noted that Vitara Brezza has been conceptualized, designed and developed in India with the help of Suzuki's global platform.
The new car comes in three variants which include Glamour, Urban and Sporty.
Suzuki president and COO Toshihiro Suzuki said: "In 'Suzuki Next 100', our mid-term management plan, India is positioned as the most important strategic market and production base.
"It is developed under a unique process to design, with a special focus on the taste and values of Indian customers."
Maruti Suzuki India CEO and managing director Kenichi Ayukawa said: "Built on a global Suzuki platform, Vitara Brezza has been conceptualized, designed and developed in India using Suzuki's global development processes.
"We believe this model appeals to Indian customers in its design, packaging and features."
The company said that the new Vitara Brezza, which meets offset and side impact crash tests, will be launched across India next year.
