Beacon Foods Installed an Automated Pot Filler and Sealer From Packaging Automation (PA)

Beacon Foods, a supplier of specialist flavorings and cooked ingredients for prepared meals in the UK, has installed an automated pot filler and sealer from Packaging Automation (PA).

Designed for frequent product changeovers, the FP-6 model machine features simple and lightweight change parts, and has an operating speed of 40 cycles per minute.

With this new machine, the food company can deposit its range of ready to use portions of compotes, chutneys, relishes, dips, sauces and certain roasted vegetables in pots ranging from 20-80g.

Beacon Foods managing director Edward Gough said that the new machine allows that company to supply the ready to use portions, which will be suitable for ready meals, airline meals, desserts and breakfast pots.

"The machine is able to hot and cold fill and seal reel-fed film lids, which further extends the packaging formats we are able to offer to our customers," Gough said.

The machine, which can be supplied to seal reel-fed film or pre-cut lids, offers a variety of options such as a date coder and a closed loop weight control system for the automatic adjustment of fill volumes.

It can also be used for dry fill such as cereal products as well as hot and cold liquid.
