It’s reported that Big River Steel announced its plans to build a US$1 billion steel mill in Mississippi County, Arkansas.
The company plans to produce steel, presumably flats, for the automotive, oil and gas and electrical energy industries, with construction plan for a 20 months from the initial groundbreaking slated for later this year.
The CEO John Correnti thinks Arkansas is the great place for starting the new mill from his own experiences as its geographic location is in the heart of the markets.
Besides, the company intends to serve and equip the state's well-developed transportation infrastructure, as well as the availability of reliable electrical power and the 'can-do attitude' of the government officials in Little Rock, Mississippi County and Osceola.
