AM General-owned Mobility Ventures has introduced MV-1 LX, the world's first universally-wheelchair accessible luxury vehicle, in the US.
The MV-1 LX features plush leather seats, wood grain trim and a digital navigation package. It is said to offer complete independence and easy and safe accessibility for users.
Built at AM General's commercial assembly plant in Mishawaka, Indiana, the vehicle has a 4.6 liter V8 Ford engine and can be ordered with a factory-installed compressed natural gas fuel option.
Mobility Ventures said: "The MV-1 LX has broad appeal for both individual consumers as well as the taxicab and limousine transportation industries."
Mobility Ventures president Rick Smith said: "The MV-1 fills a significant void in consumer, government and transportation fleet markets while providing unsurpassed accessibility, safety and comfort for its passengers."
The MV-1 is claimed to comply with the US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS).
