Hasbro and Fox News Anchor Settle $5m Lawsuit Over Harris Faulkner Hamster Toy

In a statement, Faulkner and Hasbro said the lawsuit was ‘settled amicably,’ although no details have been released.

Hasbro has settled a $5 million lawsuit with a Fox News anchor over a plastic toy hamster that shared her name.

Harris Faulker sued the company in federal court in New Jersey last year over a toy hamster named Harris Faulkner, that the anchor also believed was designed to look like her.

Harris Faulkner, the hamster, was part of Hasbro’s Littlest Pet Shop line.

The lawsuit was filed over Faulkner (the newsreader’s) belief that the toy appropriated her name and persona and harmed her credibility as a journalist. On top of which, she labeled the collectable ‘an insult.’

Hasbro had said that the hamster was not named for Faulkner, arguing that the hamster was in fact ‘an inch-tall, cartoon-like plastic animal, with no apparent gender or profession.’

In a statement, Faulkner and Hasbro said the lawsuit was ‘settled amicably,’ although no details have been released.

A statement from the toy company read: ‘The Harris Faulkner toy is no longer manufactured or sold by Hasbro. However, since there still may be Harris Faulkner toys or packaging with the Harris Faulkner name in the stream of commerce, Mr. Faulkner reiterates that she has not endorsed or approved this product.’
