Japanese automaker Mazda has stopped production of cars at Flat Rock facility, which is owned by Mazda and Ford.

Currently, both the companies will maintain the 50-50 stake in the Flat Rock plant, in which Ford will invest $550m in order to prepare the 2013 Fusion production.

The Auto Alliance facility has stopped building the Mazda6, which will be further manufactured in Japan.

Mazda6 is based on the Takeri Concept which was revealed at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show in December.

The sixth generation model now comes with new SkyActiv engines, transmissions and the technologies like direct injection, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions will be improved.

The Flat Rock plant has produced some models over the years, including the Mustang, the Probe or the Cougar.
