UK-based packaging firm Benson has collaborated with chocolate maker Willie Harcourt-Cooze and Brand Opus to develop cartons for a new range of dessert products featuring the Willie's Chocolate.
Benson noted that the final cartons have been developed following an initial carton and insert design and taking input from Brand Opus on the window shape.
The printed board features four window apertures in the finished carton, facilitating the product view for the shopper.
The insert has itself been glued to provide extra stability within the pack; in order to prevent tainting the product, all low-migration inks, coatings and adhesives have been used.
Benson Group marketing manager and design head Nikki Clark said that in order to create a denser look on the black of the carton the company suggested that a satin varnish should be used instead of the matt varnish that is used on the Willie's Chocolate product boxes.
"On the larger sized carton it just gives that added contrast in both look and feel between the base black, the spot-UV gloss, and the gold foil blocking," Clark added.
Benson Group manufactures packaging products for food and pharmaceutical industries and has a wide range of customers in the UK and throughout Europe.
