619, 122 Vehicles Will Be Recalled by General Motors in Us

General Motors (GM) has issued a voluntary recall on 619,122 vehicles of certain model year 2005-2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, and 2007 Pontiac G5 models in the US.

In the affected vehicles, the ignition switch may move out of the run position due to the weight on the key ring and/or road conditions or some other jarring event, resulting in turning-off.

The air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury when the key is not in the run position.

Dealers of the automaker will replace the ignition switch, free of charge. The company will notify the owners of the affected vehicles regarding this recall.

Earlier, the American vehicle manufacturer also issued a voluntary recall of around 57,605 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles in the US in November 2013.
