German carmaker Volkswagen has reported 3.7% rise in its sales to 3.38 million vehicles during the first seven months of 2013, compared to 3.26 million vehicles sold during same period in 2012.
During July 2013, the manufacturer delivered 466,100, a 0.5% decrease against the 468,200 vehicles sold in the same month previous year.
In Europe, the company sold 980,000 vehicles during the first seven months, 6.8% drop compared to the corresponding period prior year, while it reported sale of 492,400 units in Western Europe, 6.8% decrease compared with the same period in 2012.
The company handed over 328,400 vehicles in Germany, 9.1% down from 361,500 units sold in same period prior year, while the Central and Eastern Europe recorded sales of over 154,900 vehicles, 1.4% fall comparatively.
Sales of the company grew 17% in the Asia-Pacific region from January to July 2013 to 1.48 million units over the same period last year, while Chinese market experienced 18.9% increase to 1.36 million vehicles.
Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand board member for sales and marketing Christian Klingler said the company's passenger cars brand has produced a solid performance so far in a market situation that remains challenging.
"Given that the uncertain economic conditions will continue over the coming months, we are keeping a very close eye on developments in global automotive markets," Klingler said.
