Wai Wai noodles producer CG Foods is planning to ramp up its noodle production capacity in India, a move that could require an investment of around INR50bn ($801.4m).
The investment will be used to establish two manufacturing units in Madhya Pradesh and Assam, The Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.
A Chaudhary Group unit, CG Foods, currently has six manufacturing units in India and employs close to 2,500 people in the country.
CG Group chairman Binod Chaudhary was quoted by PTI as saying: "Wai Wai has a turnover of Rs 600 crore in India now. Our aim is to take it to Rs 10,000 crore in the next 10 years.
"The per capita consumption of noodles in India is very low, but in due course of time, it is bound to grow."
The proposed unit in Madhya Pradesh is expected to become operational in the first quarter of 2016 and it will cater to the Western India market.
Besides the proposed unit, the company already has manufacturing operations in Guwahati and Silchar in Assam, Sikkim, Rudrapur in Uttarakhand, Purnia in Bihar and Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh.
Additionally, CG Foods is also establishing a food park in Rajasthan.
CG Foods manufactures and markets food products including noodles of the Wai Wai brand. The company also offers cheese balls.
