Subaru of America has revealed the details of new features on its planned 2016 WRX and WRX STI models.
The new additions include blind spot detection, lane change assist and rear cross traffic alert as well as a new STARLINK touch screen infotainment system.
The 2016 WRX will be offered in standard, premium and limited trim lines, while the 2016 WRX STI will be available in standard and limited trim lines.
The 2016 WRX will have a six-speed manual transmission two-liter direct injection turbo BOXER engine and standard symmetrical all wheel drive. Premium and limited trims will feature 18 x 8.5-inch alloy wheels with 245/40 R18 summer tires.
It will also incorporate the company's EyeSight system, a crash prevention system by Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS), which uses Subaru-developed stereo camera technology.
The standard WRX will have new Subaru STARLINK 6.2" multimedia system, while the premium and limited versions will have STARLINK 7.0" multimedia navigation system.
Powered by 305-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged BOXER engine, the 2016 WRX STI standard features will include dual-zone automatic climate control, dual-mode heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors and windshield wiper de-icer, STARLINK 6.2" multimedia system and a rear vision camera.
With an eight-way power driver's seat and power moonroof, the WRX STI limited will incorporate Blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alert capabilities, keyless access and push button start with pin code access.
Other features in the WRX STI include a rally-bred drivetrain and multi-mode driver controlled center differential (DCCD) symmetrical all-wheel drive, active torque vectoring, multi-mode vehicle dynamics control and a Brembo performance brake system with super sport ABS as well as six-speed manual transmission and Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) powertrain management system.
