Trade Resources Company News ERP's Application Has Been Approved

ERP's Application Has Been Approved

UK-based European Recycling Platform (ERP) has announced that its application for approval to operate a packaging compliance scheme has been approved by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

ERP UK managing director Scott Butler said its great news that they have been approved as a packaging compliance scheme.

"We're delighted to be able to offer our current members the full range of compliance and we hope as many producers as possible will take the opportunity to move their compliance needs 'under one roof," Butler said.

It was approved by the Environment Agency as a WEEE producer compliance scheme in February 2007 and as a battery compliance scheme in September 2009. The company has decided to become a packaging scheme to offer quality, cost effective compliance to current and prospective producer members.

According to the company, it is now a "one stop shop" offering the full range of compliance in the UK for the WEEE, batteries and packaging waste streams. It also offers producers packaging compliance from 2013.

The company was set up in December 2002 by Braun, Electrolux, HP and Sony in response to the introduction of the European Union's Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive.
