Chip Maker Maxim Has Changed Internal Procedures to Reinforce Best-Practice

Chip maker Maxim has changed internal procedures to reinforce best-practice in embedded security products.

The firm's efforts add to a security wave crossing the industry to protect intellectual property and to block stuxnet-like attacks on industrial equipment.

"We are trying to show the automation world the ability to lock-down equipment in the factory environment," Prem Nayar, business manager for secure product at Maxim, told Electronics Weekly. "There are changes to design procedure inside Maxim: new guidelines for security chips covering how to design against invasive and power analysis. There will be an internal security qualification procedure."
