Ajinomoto Opened a New Jpy17bn Facility for The Production of Umami Seasoning Aji-No-Moto

Japanese ingredients company Ajinomoto has opened a new JPY17bn ($170m) facility for the production of umami seasoning AJI-NO-MOTO in Ayutthaya Province, Thailand.

The completion ceremony was held on 15 July and full-scale operation has commenced at the facility. The plant has been established by Ajinomoto Thailand, a consolidated subsidiary of Ajinomoto.

The facility, which manufactures and packages umami seasoning AJI-NO-MOTO, is expected to have annual production capacity of 64,000 tons allowing stable supply to the consumer market for umami seasoning in neighbouring countries. It employs about 568 people.

According to the company, the factory features energy savings and reduction of CO2 emissions as well as improved production efficiency to achieve production with minimal environmental load and quality control.

Umami seasoning AJI-NO-MOTO accounts for about 40% of the company's annual sales of approximately JPY200bn ($2.01bn) in overseas consumer foods business.

Ajinomoto is a global manufacturer of seasonings, processed foods, beverages, amino acids, pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals.
