Applied Plastics, a developer of electro-statically applied powder coatings for use in medical industry, has launched PTFE Natural Extrusion Mandrels.
The anti-stick extrusion, forming and tipping mandrel features a 0.5 dynamic coefficient of friction and provides a smooth, slippery surface to permit faster production and helps assure optimum catheter tubing I.D. Quality.
The Teflon coated stainless steel or nitinol anti-stick forming mandrels can be supplied precut in 0.010" to 0.070" dia. sizes with ±.0003' tolerance depending upon size and cut-to-length for fuse welding and tipping operations.
The mandrels are chemically inert and also has the capability to withstand up to 315°C (600°F) service.
The company said that grit-blasted using a proprietary process before applying the release coating assures the coating will not flake or crack.
