Ruukki is to initiate employer-employee negotiations concerning temporary layoffs and redundancies for financial and production-related reasons in Kalajoki,Helsinki,Peräseinäjoki and Tampere in Finland.These negotiations affect the entire offshore business-a total of 69 persons comprising 51 workers,10 salaried employees and 8 senior salaried employees at the sites mentioned.
The order book in Ruukki's offshore business is weak and so the company is exploring different options to restructure operations at the Kalajoki unit.
The time of any temporary layoffs and workforce reductions will become clear as the negotiations progress.
