The Meat Shoppe Is Withdrawing Its Own Brand Shredded Cheese Products

The Meat Shoppe is withdrawing its own brand shredded cheese products as they may be contaminated with Listeria.

The products being recalled include Shredded Cheddar Cheese featuring UPC starting with 200923, Shredded Mozza Cheese bearing UPC starting with 200922.

Recalled products have dates from 2014JA08 up to and including 2014MR03.

This recall was triggered by The Meat Shoppe, while the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has initiated a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products.

CFIA is verifying that all the recalled products are being removed from the marketplace, and will notify the public through updated Food Recall Warnings, if high-risk products are added to the recall.

No illnesses have been reported associated with the consumption of the recalled products.

Listeria monocytogenes-contaminated food may not look or smell spoiled; however, if consumed can cause vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.
