Commercial lines writer W R Berkley has established a new underwriting firm, Berkley Southeast Insurance Group, to offer commercial insurance services and expertise in six southeastern states in the US.
Based in Atlanta, Georgia, the new company will distribute its products through the independent agency system in Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Commenting on the launch of the new firm, W R Berkley board chairman and chief executive officer William Berkley said the new firm will offer various insurance products and services, which are developed considering the needs of the local community.
Dennis Barger has been appointed as the new president of Berkley Southeast, to ensure better operations.
Having over 30 years of property casualty insurance industry expertise, Barger has previously worked in key positions with various underwriters.
Established in 1967, W R Berkley trades in five segments of the property casualty insurance business including specialty insurance, regional property casualty insurance, alternative markets, reinsurance and international, in the US.
