Södra Begin Installing a New Unit for Sorting Side-Cuts at Its Industrial Sawmill

The Swedish company Södra will begin installing a new unit for sorting side-cuts at its industrial sawmill in Värö in June 2013. According to information from the company, a cost-efficient solution for permanently overcoming existing bottlenecks in this segment has been found in conjunction with the Swedish machine-engineering company System Hall. In addition to a completely new sorting line from System Hall, machine and plant components from Södra’s Åtvidaberg sawmill closed in 2011 and industrial equipment from the former Värö sawmill are to be used as well. Parallel to enlarging the sorting section, the facility’s kiln-drying capacity is to be raised, too, to a maximum of 650,000 m³ per year.
