UK-based Innovia Films, along with compostable packaging producer Bio4Pack has developed new bio based packaging solution for organic products.
Dubbed BTI 43, the new laminate structure has been developed for Bio4Pack's client DO-IT (Dutch Organic International Trade) to pack its products.
The laminate used Innovia's compostable cellulose NatureFlex film to provide barrier and is said to be suitable for various dry and moist applications such as pasta, cereals, cheese and meat.
Innovia Films packaging and sustainability marketing manager Andy Sweetman said the company's films are increasingly being used to provide the necessary barrier.
"The Bio4Pack/Innovia Films partnership is one of several that we are developing across the globe with key industry players to ensure we can meet demand for innovative, bespoke bio based packaging solutions," Sweetman added.
Bio4Pack, part of the Sylvaphane group of companies, together with its sister company, Euroflex provides film, laminate, extrude and convert packaging services.
