ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ukrainian subsidiary of global steel giant ArcelorMittal, has stated that the output of its continuous casting machine (CCM) exceeded 100,000 mt of billets in January this year. This result means the planned annual output capacity of 1.2 million mt of 150 mm x 150 mm steel billets may be reached in the current year. The achievement of the planned capacity utilization will allow ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih to boost volumes of production and reduce production costs by optimization of slab processing at blooming mills.
Construction and commissioning of the first continuous casting machine at ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih was one of the key investment projects within the scope of the Sales and Purchase Agreement of the enterprise. ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih’s continuous casting department has produced 777,000 mt of billets since start-up in 2012. The enterprise invested $120 million in the continuous casting project.
