Solartech Energy reports falling August revenues Jackie Chang, DIGITIMES, Taipei [Tuesday 4 September 2012] Taiwan-based solar cell maker Solartech Energy has announced August revenues of NT$426 million (US$14.27 million), down by 22.35% on month. Accumulated revenues for the first eight months of 2012 were NT$4.855 billion, an on-year decrease of 51.32%.
The Chinese-language Apple Daily on September 4 cited Solartech executives as saying that the worsening conditions in the solar market have caused the firm to see capacity utilization rate drop to 50%. In addition, low order visibility has prompted Solartech to predict flat performance for September.
Installation demand in Europe has been low since end of July, hitting solar firms' August performances.
Solartech executives indicated the downturn in the solar market has been pushing China-based firms to dump products, hence the prices from upstream solar wafer to downstream solar module have been falling.
