FesslerUSA Has Closed After 112 Years of Experience in Knitwear Production

FesslerUSA, one of the oldest apparel manufacturers in Pennsylvania, has closed after 112 years of experience in knitwear production.

According to Mr. Walter Meck, CEO of FesslerUSA, main causes for recession are increasing overseas competition, lack of consumers and difficulties in obtaining loans, reports Bloomberg Business Week.

Mr. Meck said the company could not sustain in today’s economic downturn and he do not want people to feel sorry for the company, but he wants them to be proud of its long existence.

FesslerUSA began its operations in 1900 by knitting fabric and sewing garments in the small Pennsylvania Dutch river port of Schuylkill Haven. Later on, the apparel company started manufacturing innerwear and became the leading producer of fashion apparels.

FesslerUSA, currently based in Orwigsburg, Eastern Pennsylvania, worked primarily in private label fashion industry as well as apparel units. The apparel firm mainly focused in woman’s fashion wear but it also introduced flame-resistant shirts for fire-fighters and utility workers.
